Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba freedom fighter, has reportedly been apprehended by security operatives in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
Igboho was said to have been apprehended Monday night after fleeing Nigeria to avoid being apprehended by the country's secret police.
According to the report, a source close to his departure from Nigeria said he had perfected plans to flee Nigeria through Cotonou and travel to Germany.
However, he was apprehended by security operatives in a neighboring country.
Another source familiar with the incident stated, "Sunday Igboho has been arrested in Cotonou." He was taken into custody about an hour ago.”
“He was supposed to travel to Germany tonight via Cotonou. He intended to leave Africa via Cotonou. In Cotonou, he was apprehended by security personnel.”
“They intend to bring him back to Nigeria.”
The Department of State Services had declared Igboho wanted after its operatives carried out a bloody midnight raid on his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
